I was surfing the channels on TV to see if something good was on the other night, and I stumbled upon this movie being shown in HBO. It was entitled Dan in Real Life. I've seen it before but I decided to watch it again because there was nothing good on TV that night.
Dan in Real Life stars Steve Carrell as Dan Burns an advice columnist who has three daughters who still takes care of them and treats them as if they would never grow up. It's been four years since the death of his wife, and since then Dan has never tried dating again. When the family went to Rhode Island to visit their relatives who were on a vacation, Dan meets this woman in a bookstore named Marie. After a long chat and a cup of coffee with her, Dan thinks that they're compatible with each other; but suddenly finds out after going home that the woman was dating his brother. The whole time that the family was in their relatives house, Dan tries to struggle in controlling his feelings for Marie by balancing humor and sadness at the same time.
I found this movie to be very good, and perhaps one of my favorites. I liked how Steve Carrell can be a really good comedian and at the same time still manage to do good in drama. He's a really good actor, because not all comedians can do both. I'd like to say that it's a sappy movie, because after watching it, you'd feel happy and sad at the same time. It has a weird feel to it, but it's really nice. It's a must watch!
